Overview of Problem

Based on preliminary research we done, we found that small business owners and individuals face challenges with managing receipts (physical and digital) due to issues such as losing, damaging, and mismanaging receipts. These issues can lead to challenges with making tax returns, tracking personal or business expenses, and maintaining accurate tax records.

Existing systems like scanning apps make it easier for people to transform their physical receipts into digital form, however, they require manually organization.

The goal of the project was to figure out a way to help small business owners and individuals with while meeting their needs and addressing their challenges. This project is driven by the following research questions:

  1. What are the challenges and needs of small business owners and individuals when it comes to managing their receipts?
  2. How do we design an receipt management solution to address these challenges and needs?
